Why I created this site and how it works
ABOUT ME
My name is Christian, I'm a Swiss citizen who traveled through New Zealand in November and December of 2023. As I am a huge Lord of the Rings fan since I was a child, I always wanted to visit the Lord of the Rings movie locations in New Zealand. After researching for over a year, I started my adventure in November 2023 and traveled New Zealand for about four weeks. During this period, I visited dozens of shooting locations on both islands.
After I returned I posted some pictures on social media. There was a huge demand for more information about my travels, so I decided to create this website to share my adventures and to provide detailed information on how you can start your own Middle Earth exploration. There are three ways to explore: You can either use the map directly, watch the video first or click through the "shot for shot" section, where you can see over 100 images of locations I visited.
My intention is not to make any money out of this. So all information are free to use.
PERSONAL REQUEST
When you visit the locations, please treat them with the outmost respect. Don't litter, don't access areas which you should not, don't disturb wildlife. Also don't just enter private land if you don't have permission.
My list of locations is not complete and I can't guarantee that every information is correct. If you use my pictures, please keep the watermarks and if you like to, link to this page.
